Ravi Shah is the head of the mathematics department and summer school principal at Wolcott School. With an interest in education since his early years, Ravi has received his Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University and his Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics from the University of Southern California. He also completed a certificate in Gifted Education from USC, giving him the tools necessary to work with students who excel in the classroom when presented with various learning methods. Most recently, Ravi received his Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Curriculum Studies) from DePaul University. His dissertation is titled, Mathematical Identity Formation: Preparing Students with Learning Disorders for Post-Secondary Education and Careers. Ravi hopes to continue his research in finding effective and innovative teaching methods in the math classroom to help create more equitable opportunities for his students with learning differences. In his free time, Ravi likes to travel the world, spend time with friends and family, and explore his hometown city of Chicago with his wife.
