BA, Purdue University
MEd, DePaul University
Janelle grew up in Indiana. After graduating from Purdue, she moved to Illinois and taught in the Homewood-Flossmoor School District for the next seven years. While completing her MEd in reading and learning disabilities at DePaul, she began teaching in Chicago at Frances Xavier Warde (FXW). After ten years as a classroom teacher, she had her daughter and took time off to be a stay-at-home mom. During that time she volunteered at FXW in various capacities, including running the annual charity auction which raised more than $500,000. She also served the Girl Scouts as her daughter’s troop leader (Ten years and going strong!) and as a Service Unit Manager and Events Coordinator for the 60+ troops in her Service Unit. In those roles, Janelle has organized and run the programming for workshops and special events as well as camping trips for more than 100 girls. On weekends, Janelle can be found with her family serving meals at St. Teresa’s or volunteering at PAWS Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending the theater, cheering on the Blackhawks, and spending time with family and friends.
